About Al-Mortaqa Foundation for Development:

Al-Mortaqa Foundation for Development is an Iraqi independent, non-governmental, non-profit and a public benefit civil society organization, founded by a group of activists from the Iraqi civil society on 31/08/2005, and was officially licensed by NGOs Directorate in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. It operates officially in accordance with the Iraqi law. Al-Mortaqa is the first local civil society organization to get UN's special consultative status at the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations since 2013.

About Project:

‘Start Your Own Business’ Project. Is a project funded by GIZ for 7 months in Baghdad, Diyala and Basrah. Its aims are supporting Iraqi returnees with the required capacities, providing them with the needed in-kind support and the needed guidance to start and scale up business. And the main goal for which is opening spaces for returnees to start income generation activities through Business start-ups and Business development.

One of main activities under this project is providing training to participants, its objective is enabling the scale-up business participants to get benefit, identifying the needs of the returnees sounding markets, build the skill of the participants in the business management and development covering full modules of business management.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills "

Qualifications and Skills:

• BA/BS or equivalent is desirable.

• At least 3 years of previous related experience preferable.

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members in a cross cultural environment is required.

• Effective verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills.

• Good command of English (spoken and written) is required.

• Solid understanding of data collection, cleaning and analysis.

• Familiarity with data collection methods and tools.

• Competency in writing progress reports.

• Good problem solving skills.

• Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel, as well as with project partners and community members.

• Computer skills – Word and Excel is required.

• knowledge of social structure / nature of people in Iraq in general, and especially about Basrah, Baghdad and Diyala provinces.

• Ability to work under pressure.

• Willing to start work immediately.

Responsibilities

• Ensure preparing required monitoring and evaluation reports, monitoring reports and analyzing records.

• Follow-up all conducted activities and submit a report to the Project Manager.

• Develop and implement MEAL plan.

• Monitor internal procedures and implementation process during project implementation.

• Perform spot checks on suppliers and distribution locations.

• Liaise with project stakeholders and internal colleagues to support their monitoring and evaluation activities.

• Communicate beneficiary representatives and facilitate reporting procedures.

• Provide full support to Program Manager in other activities as required.

• Develop the outcome indicators.

• Conduct field visits for following up performance and implementation (Baghdad, Basra, Diyala) and submit field visit reports to Project Manager.

• Participate in preparing the needed reporting scheme, communication with Field Teams and other stakeholders of the projects on MEAL related issues.

• Update the MEAL indicator tracking sheets.

• Analyze data, monitor trends and highlight concerns.

• Update the MEAL database.

• Document statistical data.

• Fulfilling other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Ensure compliance to Al-Mortaqa’s procedures and policies.
