The University of Basra holds an awareness seminar on the occasion of World Rabies Day

The Department of Science and Technology Parks at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, held an awareness seminar entitled “Rabies (Rabies) within the framework of single health: prevention is a joint responsibility”, coinciding with World Rabies Day, which falls on September 28 of each year.

The symposium aimed to raise the level of health and veterinary awareness about the risks of rabies (rabies) and methods of preventing it, in addition to consolidating the concept of one health to emphasise that the reduction of communicable and common diseases between humans and animals is a responsibility that requires the integration of scientific and community efforts.

The seminar, in which the head of the Rehabilitation, Employment and Follow-up Unit at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine taught by Sarah Salem Mohammed, included a comprehensive review of the causes, symptoms and methods of transmission of the sar disease, as well as urgent preventive measures and proper handling of cases of bite or injury. The symposium also addressed the importance of comprehensive immunisation campaigns for animals and the integration of the awareness and veterinary role to reduce the spread of the disease and ensure a safe healthy environment.

For his part, the Director of the Department, Dr. Radwan Abdul Wahab Abdul Razzaq, pointed out during his statement to the importance of commemorating World Rabies Day, noting that the organisation of these seminars comes out of the belief of the university's academic and community role in spreading health culture and reducing the spread of common diseases, by highlighting preventive solutions and strengthening partnership between educational and health institutions to reach a safe and risk-free environment.
