War Child UK (WCUK) works to support children in conflict and post-conflict affected areas who live with a combination of poverty, exclusion and insecurity. These children might include IDP and refugee children, street children, child headed households, children associated with armed groups, and children in detention. Our mission is to support and strengthen the protective environment around all the children we serve. Position: Child Protection Case Worker.
Reports to: Case Management Supervisor.
Purpose of the Role:
The Child Protection Case Worker is a member of WCUK’s Child Protection team. The Case Worker will work under the supervision of the Case Management Supervisor, to whom they will report. WCUK’s Protection Coordinator will provide ongoing capacity building support and guidance. The Case Worker will provide daily case management support to at-risk children and their families affected by conflict and trauma.
Key Responsibilities:
• Identify children who should be provided with case management services in accordance to WCUK’s risk prioritization and vulnerability criteria
• Provide case management services to at-risk children and their families in accordance to the Inter-Agency Minimum Standards on Child Protection and Case Management
• Develop appropriate case plans for children with different needs
• Provide timely and appropriate case management services to children
• Provide referrals and follow-up for children with external service-providers
• Share information with parents/caregivers, as appropriate, and support them to implement relevant parts of the case plan
• Enter case management data into the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS)
• Conduct regular visits and follow-up to children and their families
• Support the development of referral pathways for children requiring external services
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Education and experience:
• Degree in Social Work, Psychology or another related field
• 2 years of relevant experience in fieldwork on the issues related to Child Protection in Emergencies
• At least 1-year specific social work or case management work experience with children
• Previous experience in a similar position with international or national organizations or government authorities
• Fluent in written and spoken Kurdish and Arabic
• Knowledge of Child Protection standards and procedures
• Ability to discuss sensitive issues with children and parents/caregivers and provide guidance and support
